June 21, 2008 08:42 PMThe magical hourEvery time I drift into or out of sleep at the evening dusk hour, I think of the desert. I hear music in the distance from the park and recall the beats from other camps. Through half-opened sleep filled eyes, i see wispy clouds as the white blue sky starts to purple. I see the blurred buildings and hills as the comforting, enveloping mountains surrounding our little part of the playa. I feel at once, calm and safe, held and protected by the world as I start to feel the anticipation building for whatever amazing adventure the night may bring. No one can ever take that from me.
June 19, 2008 07:50 AMSomething midwesternI'm a city boy; what would i know? but still. This story about the floods on the Mississippi evokes something from within. June 09, 2008 10:20 AMMy Two Front TeethHi. If anyone was looking for an idea of what to get me for Christmas, this would be nice. :)
June 02, 2008 11:37 PMoh yeahI remember. I remember the warm house filled with people. I remember cooking weird things and feeding grateful (if confused) folks with food and fresh baked cookies. i remember what it is like to geek out, and then all lay in bed together and listen to "Round Midnight" really/really/really loud with amazing fidelity. Friends are kind of the best thing on earth. I'm super glad to have a roommate again. Niceness abounds and kindness appears. Also, i went for a swim. :) |
