Setting up IMAP for use with oof.org hosting

The Basics

This guide recommends that you use Thunderbird, but feel free to extrapolate to the client of your choosing.

The key things to note are:

Server Type IMAP

Server Name mail.oof.org

User Name <your login name> eg: "oliver"

Incoming Server Port 993

Outgoing Server Port 465

Encryption SSL (not TLS)

Following the "new account wizard"...

That's your name!

IMAP is important.

Just your first name

You can really call this anything you want...

There it al is for you to see!

Good work! you've made it this far! now, you just have to modify a few settings in the client:

Click on "View settings for this account"

Check "Use secure connection (SSL)", and make sure the port updates to 993

Also check "SSL" in the "Outgoing Server" settings, and make sure it uses port 465

Gotcha

The one gotcha that can really burn you is the Username for the IMAP server.
